EcoVadis on Amazon Business: Why Your EcoVadis Rating Is Now a B2B Sales Factor
Sustainability has long been a reporting exercise. A credential shared in tender processes, displayed on a company website, filed away in a procurement portal.
On 7 January 2026, that changed.
EcoVadis announced that sellers who have achieved an EcoVadis Medal or Badge can now prominently display their validated sustainability performance directly on their profile within the Amazon Business store - marking a significant step in standardising sustainable procurement practices across one of the world's largest B2B marketplaces.
For suppliers, the implications go well beyond a logo on a product page.
What the Amazon Business EcoVadis Integration Actually Changes
This integration allows sellers who have completed a comprehensive EcoVadis assessment and earned recognition across all medal levels to showcase their achievement directly on Amazon Business. It provides procurement teams with instant, independently verified confirmation of a seller's commitment to best practices across the four EcoVadis themes: Environment, Labour and Human Rights, Ethics, and Sustainable Procurement.
Critically, Amazon Business customers can now filter search results to prioritise sellers with a verified EcoVadis rating. In practical terms, a procurement manager can search for a product category and see only suppliers whose sustainability performance has been independently assessed. Suppliers without a rating do not appear in that filtered view.
The feature is available immediately in EU Amazon Business stores, including the United Kingdom, France, Spain, Italy and Germany, for EcoVadis Premium, Select, and Corporate subscribers.
Why This Integration Matters Now
The partnership builds on Amazon's existing collaboration with EcoVadis since 2018. The timing reflects a broader regulatory reality: organisations globally face growing pressure from supply chain due diligence requirements and mandatory environmental reporting. Procurement teams are no longer filtering for sustainability out of preference alone. Many are required to document the credentials of their suppliers, and a verified EcoVadis medal on a product listing simplifies that process considerably.
Pierre-François Thaler, co-CEO and co-founder of EcoVadis, summarised the shift: the market is demanding radical transparency, and buyers want to align their procurement strategies with their corporate values.
Jennifer Carroll, Senior Certifications Manager at Amazon Business, confirmed the commercial driver: the integration is a direct response to growing customer demand for sustainable purchasing options.
What the Amazon Business EcoVadis Filter Means for Your Procurement Strategy
Visibility is no longer neutral. A supplier without a verified EcoVadis rating is not simply unrated. In a filtered search, they are invisible. For product categories where sustainability filtering is actively applied, this has a direct impact on discoverability and, by extension, on revenue.
Buyers are filtering to meet their own obligations. CSRD reporting requirements and supply chain due diligence legislation mean that procurement teams are documenting the sustainability credentials of their suppliers as a matter of process. A verified medal on a product listing removes friction at the point of purchase.
The Committed Badge counts too. Companies earlier in their sustainability journey who hold a Committed Badge are also eligible to display their status. This is a meaningful entry point into filtered search results, even before a medal level is achieved.
Medal level becomes a differentiator. Appearing in filtered results is the threshold. In categories where competitors hold Gold or Platinum, the medal level itself becomes a competitive signal. Sellers are encouraged to complete their assessment or upgrade their subscription to take full advantage of this opportunity.
EcoVadis Ratings on Amazon Business: A Shift in B2B Procurement
The Amazon Business integration is one data point in a larger movement. EcoVadis ratings are increasingly embedded into procurement platforms, supplier portals and customer requirements across industries. Each integration raises the same question: is your rating where it needs to be?
If your current EcoVadis rating does not reflect the sustainability work your organisation has already done, or if you have not yet completed an assessment, 2026 is the year the cost of inaction became concrete.
